First edition, large octavo in two parts, typographical title page printed within a border of type ornaments followed by twenty-four leaves printed on one side only, each featuring four engraved panels: two with hair style illustrations per page, each accompanied by a description of the style (forty-eight hair styles illustrated in total); followed by twelve leaves of costume plates, four panels to each leaf, engraved and printed on one side only, with four images per page (twenty-four fashionable looks illustrated in total); all plates with contemporary hand-coloring throughout, leaves in very good condition; neatly bound in straight-grained russet half morocco by Bernasconi with ornately gilt spine featuring onlays of green leather and densely tooled compartments, marbled boards and endleaves, aeg, 9 x 5 3/4 in.
